Chain and Sprocket Replacement
A worn chain stretches and wears the sprockets, so the chain and both sprockets are normally replaced together. We check for hooked teeth, tight links and rust.
After fitting the new set we align the rear wheel, set the chain tension to the manufacturer’s specification and lubricate it, and we show you how to check the slack yourself.
Coastal air accelerates chain wear, so regular cleaning and lubrication matter more near the water.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know the chain is worn?
Tight spots, rust, a chain that will not stay adjusted, or hooked sprocket teeth.
Do I need new sprockets as well?
Usually yes. Fitting a new chain onto worn sprockets shortens its life.
How often should I lubricate the chain?
Every few hundred miles and after riding in the rain or near salt water.
